Annabelle Rama posts bail
MANILA, Philippines – In anticipation of her May arraignment on 14 counts of libel filed against her by actress Nadia Montenegro, talent manager Annabelle Rama on Thursday voluntarily posted bail to avoid a possible issuance of a warrant of arrest.

This, after the Quezon City prosecutor’s office said the charges against Rama have probable cause.
According to a staff member of Judge Eleuterio Bathan, who will preside the case, Rama on Thursday voluntarily went to a Quezon City Regional Trial Court branch to post bail, which amounted to P140,000.
Rama paid P110,000 for a series of Twitter posts attacking Montenegro from September to December 2011; and P30,000 for her statements against Montenegro in an interview on a television show.
The bail guarantees Rama’s appearance in facing the charges, and that she will not be issued a possible warrant of arrest following her arraignment on May 21.
Meanwhile, Montenegro is set to appeal the fiscal’s decision to scrap the child abuse charges filed against Rama by the former’s children.
In a press conference, Montenegro said she is resolved to appeal the case for the sake of her family’s dignity.
“Let me give everyone a definition of child abuse: 'Any act by deed or words which debases, degrades, or demeans the intrinsic worth and dignity of a child as a human being,’” she said.
“My children will have to grow up and bring with them the fact that one time during their childhood, an evil woman like Annabelle Rama made up a story and told the world that she was raped, and the other one had STD at the age of 15,” she added.
Montenegro will formally submit her appeal next week. -- Report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
