Court orders arrest of Mendiola slay suspects
MANILA, Philippines – A court in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Tuesday ordered the arrest of 4 suspects in the murders of star witness Alfred Mendiola and 2 others last May 6.
The suspects, identified as Ryan Dominguez, Mark Mario Lakambakal, James Jimenez and Roy Blanco, are facing multiple murder charges for the deaths of Mendiola, Eriberto Jumaquio and Mark Angelo Herrera.
Dominguez is the younger sibling of Raymond and Roger Dominguez, who were both linked to the murder of car dealer Venson Evangelista.
Honorable Executive Judge Perla V. Cabrera-Faller of Dasmariñas Regional Trial Court Branch 90 issued the arrest warrants.
Mendiola was found dead with Jumaquio and Herrera in Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas.
The three were tied, gagged and shot in the head.
The Department of Justice’s Witness Protection Program (WPP) drew flak over the death of the state witness but Martin Menez, acting director of the WPP, said Mendiola had signed several waivers and opted to have his freedom and privacy instead of security in a safehouse. -- Report from Gus Abelgas, ABS-CBN News
